Bryson City is a male Ginkgo variety brought over by Mrs. Mary Bryson Tipton, who was a missionary in World War I. When the missionaries were evacuated, she brought this tree with her and planted it in downtown Bryson City, North Carolina. Pictures of the original tree reveal a mature tree that will be strongly vase shaped.
