Acer palmatum
Ryuzu translates to dragon's head. Ryuzu is a showy small cultivar with twisting leaves in Spring. The nodes are spaced relatively tight. Sometimes lighter tones like chartreuse or even pink edges occur in Spring. Fall color can be in the orange and red tones. This cultivar is not always Winter hardy, especially when young or if the weather has large swings from hot to cold. If possible, shelter the first few years in the ground. I also know of growers that use a blanket of pine straw over the whole plant and a rose cone to hold it in place.
