Chitoseyama from England (Exbury Gardens)

This beautiful variety is reported to originate in England. This is a shrub y matsumurae type with dark purple red leaves in Spring fading to tan and olive green for Summer. Bright red samaras add an interesting touch. Maple Ridge Nursery indicates this may originate at Exbury Gardens in England about 1990. This won the RHS Award of Garden Merit in 1993, and has bright red Fall color.
